Concurrency and Streaming in the Age of Loom
Rossen Stoyanchev - Broadcom / Dariusz Jędrzejczyk - Broadcom
Concurrency and infinite stream handling are two aspects that the reactive world solved and normalized, but have yet to be solved in a Loom world.
Structured concurrency will be in 6th preview in JDK 26, and will bring the ability for a coordinated launch of concurrent tasks with control over a coordinated cancellation and shutdown. The structured concurrency JEP also hints future work on channels integrated with structured concurrency, but there is no proposal for that yet.
This session examines the concrete proposals available today, developments in the wider ecosystem, draws conclusions, and provides guidance on a possible direction for applications today.
